Even if you’re running with below-average cab and bed space, it’s truly amazing what our partnering brands have done with their UTV storage solutions in terms of making the very most out of every inch. For starters, we’ve got beyond-offroad-worthy door bags that mount snugly to your panels and hold all your frequently-used items (radios, GPS, snacks, etc.). This is a great way to keep your gear within arm's reach for quick use.
Not to mention, UTV dash and console storage boxes or trays make your life a whole lot easier. Keep your phone, keys, registration, and whatever else you need tidily organized and out of the way, yet super accessible with these great-looking and model-specific UTV storage accessories.
Of course, we can’t forget the bed-mounted UTV storage boxes, bags, and racks, giving you all the capacity you need to lug along tools, recovery equipment and other larger items without all the worry (and with no “popcorn” in that bed!).
To be frank, if you’re working with cheap and flimsy Side-by-Side storage equipment, your gear is simply not going to be able to stand up to the constant barrage of water, mud, dust, and UV radiation (not to mention the heavy impacts). That’s why we don’t play with our weatherproofing, only offering UTV storage gear that comes with waterproof materials and sealed zippers.
If you want your precious items to be effectively sealed off from all that dust, you really need high-quality UTV storage materials and features. Those dust particles can get incredibly fine, which means you need gaskets, sealing lips, or overlapping closures to consistently keep them out.
This may sound a bit crazy, but our recommendation when you’re getting new UTV storage gear is to just abuse it yourself! Blast it with a hose, drag it through the dust, or even dip it underwater (if it is waterproof). Once you know it really can handle all that abuse, you can ride off with that much more confidence.
Storage that comes loose during riding scatters contents, creates projectiles, and wastes money. Secure mounting requires proper attachment methods for the storage type and location. Storage solutions that use straps need really secure buckles that won’t just vibrate loose at the first sign of trouble.
When you’ve got side-by-side storage gear that bolts on, you want to make sure it uses stable mounting points and backing plates to help keep those stresses distributed. Locking hardware is also a must-have to keep the bolts from being vibrated out, as applicable.
Speaking of vibration, it’s always a good sign when you find rubber isolators or foam padding. Keep your eyes peeled for these!
How much weight can I safely store in overhead baskets or door bags?
This varies by specific storage and mounting quality. Overhead baskets: conservative guideline is 10-20 pounds maximum. They're mounted to roll cage tubes via clamps that can work loose from excessive weight, and heavy items high on the machine raise center of gravity, affecting handling. Store light, bulky items overhead (jackets, soft bags, rain gear) rather than heavy tools. Door bags: typically 5-15 pounds, depending on mounting security and door structure. Overloading door bags stresses door panels or hinges, potentially causing doors to sag or not close properly. Distribute weight; don't concentrate everything in one bag. If you're noticing storage shifting, mounting loosening, or doors not functioning properly, you've overloaded.
Will storage interfere with my harnesses, doors, or other accessories?
They can, which is why you definitely want to scope out fitment before buying. Roll bar baskets, for example, can interfere with overhead harness mounting, grab handles, or roof installation. Measure available space and compare it to storage dimensions. Bed-mounted boxes can prevent certain bed accessories from fitting or reduce tie-down point access.
How should I organize everything?
Here’s the mentality: keep everything findable. Group types of items together and keep quick-access items close and accessible. Most of all, stay consistent once you’ve got your ideal setup, and you will soon memorize where everything is.
