Polaris Ranger XD 1500

How the Polaris Ranger XD 1500 Redefined Heavy-Duty

One-Ton Capability That Changes Everything

The XD 1500 delivers an absolutely staggering payload (3500lbs) and towing (7500lbs) capacity, which actually moves it closer to a commercial truck than most UTVs, believe it or not. All of this power is coiled like a snake within a trim (60 in.) frame, which often makes the difference between being able to handle a job yourself and having to call for backup (and who likes to do that?). Everyone from concrete contractors hauling heavy loads where trucks can’t go to mining operations and more stands to benefit from the power and performance the XD brings to the table.

Engineered from the Ground Up for Commercial Abuse

The XD 1500 rides on an ultra-heavy-duty chassis with bolstered mounting points and suspension hardware that is designed specifically for loading and hauling as much weight as you need to on any given workday. The ProStar 1500 engine delivers the torque characteristics that allow the rig to keep chugging under a full load. That’s the difference between impressive horsepower numbers that don’t really help you on the haul and farm strength!

The suspension system keeps ground clearance generous, while preserving the articulation you want even while under the pressure of a full load, preventing the bottoming and binding that destroys lesser machines. Heavy-duty CVT components are more than enough to handle the constant loading and unloading cycles that come with working for a commercial outfit, with cooling systems and construction designed to hold up longer.

We’re big fans of the Ranger XD 1500 NorthStar Edition for all the premium features and capabilities it comes with. Simply put, when you need to get the most possible performance out of a work vehicle, meaning you’re willing to spring for the premium features that give you an extra edge, the NorthStar is a good target to shoot for. The base XD, on the other hand, will give you the same capacity at a lower price point, which is great for outfits that need maximum hauling and towing capability but could go without some of the more premium features.

Polaris Ranger XD FAQs

Can the XD 1500 really stand in for a full-blown pickup?

In many cases, it sure can! Obviously, if you need to get on the highway or if you can’t have an open cab (for weather or whatever other reason), it’s always great to have both options available to you, but otherwise, the XD 1500 will haul your load through tighter spaces.

How does the XD 1500 handle maximum loads when the terrain is really bad?

Even when you’ve got wonky terrain in front of you, the XD 1500 will hold up under a full load, but that doesn’t mean the risk of damage (or losing cargo) is exactly the same. Keeping your cargo weight well distributed and driving a bit more conservatively in rough terrain when you’re fully loaded up are two really important practices if you want that XD 1500 to last even longer.

What does maintenance look like with this vehicle?

You can expect slightly more frequent service, but a key caveat here is that this rig is built for serious abuse, so it will treat you well if you treat it well.
